Happy Valentine's Day

any idea how much a rare diamond costs?

Happy Valentine's!

Christie's is offering a 56.12-carat, heart shaped, D colour, Internally Flawless diamond at its upcoming jewellery sale in Geneva.

Less than a handful of diamonds over 50 carats have appeared at auction in the last 20 years and this one also belongs to the elite Type IIA category of diamonds confirming it as exceptionally white.

It will be sold on May 18 when it is expected to fetch $9,000,000-12,000,000.

More about how to evaluate diamonds as previously posted.

Arthur Ha: This is beautiful and its going to be auctioned on my birthday, what a moment to remember, since it is already very rare to have a diamond over 10 carats to be D colour and flawless. although II A is not an official colour grade in the GIA examination certificate, but it is noted that it is very rare to get a comment such as this. officially D colour is the highest grade but II A is an addition in the whiteness of the diamond, in an other words it is whiter than white. this is absolutely a rare gem
